About Jeter-Watson Intermediate School

Welcome to Jeter-Watson Intermediate School. On August 19, 2009, we opened our doors to a brand new state of the art school facility. The facility houses Edgemont Primary School and Jeter-Watson Intermediate School under one roof. Both schools share common areas such as a library, music room, and auditorium.

The core subjects include language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. Students also have the opportunity to participate in library, art, music, band, Spanish, physical education, and computer lab.

At JWIS we place a concentrated effort and support on the academic, social, emotional well being of our students.

Mission Statement:

The mission of Jeter-Watson Intermediate School is to provide a safe community where all students have the opportunity to grow academically, socially, and individually in order to prepare them for future endeavors.

Beliefs:

The school has developed the following belief statements. These belief statements contain ideas about how teaching and learning should take place and the type of education the school provides.

  • Students learn in a variety of ways and should be provided with different instructional
    approaches to support their learning.
  • The learning needs of students should be the primary focus of all decisions impacting the work of a school.
  • All students can learn.
  • Our school focuses on student learning as a priority.
  • Each student is a valued individual with unique learning styles, and unique physical, emotional, and intellectual needs.
  • Positive relationships and mutual respect among and between students and staff enhances a student’s self esteem.
