Administrative Personnel (Word Doc): Administrative positions require a Virginia teaching license issued by the Virginia Department of Education/Teacher Licensure in the appropriate endorsement. Includes:

  • Superintendent
  • Director of Student Services & Special Education
  • Principal
  • Assistant Principal

Classified Application (Word Doc): Classified positions require a high school diploma or equivalent and related certification, completion of training, levels of proficiency, or experience as noted for the specific area. Includes:

  • Clerical (college credits & related experience)
  • Custodian (Head Custodian - related experience)
  • Director of Administrative Services (Bachelor’s Degree & related experience)
  • Director of Business & Finance (Bachelor’s Degree & related experience)

Instructional Personnel (Word Doc): Teaching positions require a license issued by the Virginia Department of Education/Teacher Licensure in the appropriate subject/endorsement area. Includes:

Substitute Teachers (Word Doc): Substitute teacher positions require a high school diploma or equivalent and college credit and/or experience working with children. Substitute teacher applications along with three letters of reference should be sent to Covington City Public Schools. If any questions, please contact Mrs. Brenda Perkins (540)-965-1400.

We have established a substitute teacher pool for the Alleghany County Public Schools, Covington City Public Schools, and Jackson River Technical Center. Please indicate your interest in any of the divisions and a copy of your application will be sent to the appropriate personnel office.

Coaching Positions (Word Doc): Individuals who are not currently employed in a classified or instructional position should have related experience in the extracurricular area. A completed application and three letters of reference (use form below) should be submitted to the Athletic Director/Covington High School for consideration.
